Hotel O'Tai
The name O’Tai means “In the Coast” in the Rapanui language. As its name suggests, Hotel O’Tai is just steps away from the coast line yet at the same time, situated in the center of the Hanga Roa Village. While its village location allows guests to be part of the action, the feel is that you’re miles from anywhere. This quaint 40 room hotel is flanked by beautiful gardens providing a sense of tranquility and solace to its visitors.
Guests of the hotel have a choice of a standard or superior room, both of which include a secluded private deck. The standard rooms are housed in the original hotel building while the superior models are located in the new expansion sector, built in 1986. The superior rooms include a safe and air conditioning while guests staying the standard rooms are required to pay a little extra per night for an air ventilator. All rooms are comfortable and appropriately tropical in décor and offer guests a choice of single, double or triple bed configurations.
In the middle of the property sits an inviting swimming pool, surrounded by a flower-scented deck made up of indigenous fauna from the Rapa Nui area. Guests can also explore the beautiful lush gardens and coast line just steps from the hotel grounds. Hotel O’tai is home to its own restaurant which specializes in typical dishes of Rapa Nui.
There is a small library with books pertaining to local culture as well as international reads for guests use while at the hotel. The reception desk is open from 7:30am to 11:00pm and takes pride in providing personal, specialized attention to each and every guest. The Hotel O’Tai is characterized by its friendly family atmosphere.
