Since North America’s 2017 solar eclipse, interest in the wonders of the sky has skyrocketed. While it’s hard to quantify how many travelers are stargazing in dark sky spots and traveling to see eclipses, “astrotourism” (traveling for astronomical experiences) is one of the top travel trends for 2019.

Aspen Highlands will open early for the season, Saturday, Dec. 1, with more than 700 acres of top-to-bottom skiing and riding terrain one week before the resort’s scheduled opening. Skiing and riding will include access to 2,500 vertical feet of steep terrain in Highland Bowl.

On top of more than 24" of natural snowfall across the upper mountain in the past 8 days Telluride's snowmaking team has also begun preparations for the upcoming season.

The team will be busy making snow across the resort as temperatures permit.
